Practical help with the challenges of your business.
I'm asking business owners and managers what really gets in the way of winning clients. Your answers decide what we cover in the free webinar, so it's built around the challenges in your business.
- 1A summary of the results. See where other service businesses find clients, where they get stuck, and how you compare.
- 2An invitation to a free webinar. We'll work through the challenges you share, so you leave with clear next steps.
- 3Optional: a free 15-minute chat about your answers and your business.
I'll share the overall results, but anonymised: no company names or details that could identify your business. 7R Marketing is a brand of Translators Family, which stores your details. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Your Business Growth Survey
Open full page ↗You're good at what you do. So why don't clients see it?
People don't know how to recommend you
They enjoyed meeting you, but can't say what you do best, so they don't pass your name on or come back.
You lose work to cheaper competitors
When clients can't see the difference, the only thing left to compare is the price.
Quotes go unanswered
Someone asks for a price, you send it, then silence. You're not sure whether to chase.
Social media brings likes, not clients
You post regularly, but your enquiries and revenue don't change.
Referrals are your only plan
Busy months, then empty months, and no way of knowing which one is coming next.
No time for marketing
You're too busy doing the work to market it. Follow-up slips, posts stop, and next month's pipeline dries up.
It's rarely your service. It's the trust gap: the space between being seen and being chosen. Close it, and the same effort starts bringing the right clients.
Trust creates action.
Is working with Oleg a good fit for you?
A good fit if
- You sell a service or your expertise, your clients like your work, but there's no growth.
- You're ready to give growth a few hours a month, or to let my team do the work.
Probably not a fit if
- You want more followers fast, rather than more of the right clients.
- You want ads running before you know who you really want to reach.
Choose the support that fits your business
You might need a clear plan, someone to lead your growth, or a team to do the work. Pick the level of support that suits you.

What changes when the message, proof and follow-up work together
Translators Family
Before: a company that grew by going with the flow. Work came in, and we reacted to it.

- Clear offers and outcomes for clients
- Documented processes, with clear responsibility across the team
- Marketing budget spent only on ideal clients
- A consistent follow-up plan for every client

Abandoned Artists CIC 2025–2026
The project: an exhibition of Ukrainian artists in Edinburgh, run by a community interest company with a small volunteer team.
What I did: marketing communications, sponsorship outreach and stakeholder engagement. I then researched the market and SMEs across Scotland to find demand, partners and conditions for future growth.
- A clear message for the exhibition and its audiences
- Conversations opened with sponsors and partners
- Strategic recommendations for the next stage of growth
TEDx Leith 2026
The project: an independently organised TEDx event in Edinburgh, delivered by volunteers.
What I did: as communications and community engagement manager, I coordinated communication between speakers, volunteers, partners and audiences, and helped shape the messaging around the speakers, their ideas and the Leith community.
- One consistent voice for the event across every channel
- A volunteer team that stayed informed and aligned

Hi, I'm Oleg Semerikov
Since 2006, I've run Translators Family, a translation and interpreting company working across three countries. More than half of our revenue comes from clients who found us through networking, conferences and referrals.
But for many years, I came back from some events with zero clients and zero referrals. I was making three mistakes. I tried to explain everything: more than twelve services in more than fifty languages. I talked about my services without asking what people actually needed. And I didn't always follow up.
Studying marketing changed that. I completed a first-class degree in Business and Marketing at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, kept learning from marketing experts and tested every idea in my own business. Translators Family keeps growing, and this year my team won three awards from the Association of Translation Companies, including Team of the Year.
I've delegated most of my tasks to my team. It gave me time to start 7R Marketing and help other service businesses avoid the mistakes I made and build on my successes, as their consultant, their fractional marketing and business development manager, or by implementing their marketing with my team.
Why 7R? Seven rivers.
My surname, Semerikov, carries the meaning of "seven rivers". I've always liked that picture. A river doesn't force its way through rock. It finds the right path, keeps moving, and grows stronger as other streams join it.
Good marketing works the same way. Seven steps, from Reality to Results, each one feeding the next and flowing towards one goal: more of the right clients for your business.
That's the 7R method. And that's where the name comes from.
Questions people ask me
Working together
What does 7R Marketing actually do?
I help service businesses get clear on who they're for, say it in a way clients remember, show proof that builds trust, and follow up consistently. I can advise you as a consultant, work inside your business as a fractional marketing and business development manager, or implement your marketing for you.
What is a fractional marketing manager?
An experienced marketing manager who works with you part-time, for example a few days a month. You get senior thinking and hands-on help without the cost of a full-time hire.
What does the business development side include?
Growing your business through relationships: finding partners who can refer you, choosing the events and networks worth your time, setting up follow-up and lead tracking, and outreach that sounds like you.
Can you just do the work for me?
Yes. If you already know what's needed but have no time, my team and I can implement it: run your social media, email marketing and Google Ads, rewrite your website and LinkedIn messaging, set up HubSpot and follow-up emails, and create case studies and campaign materials.
Who do you work with?
Service businesses and solopreneurs, such as consultants, coaches, trainers, agencies, hospitality, professional services and social enterprises. If you sell your expertise and want more of the right clients, we should talk.
I'm a solopreneur with very little time. Is this for me?
Yes. We start with what you can realistically keep up in a few hours a week, and automate what makes sense, so marketing doesn't depend on your spare evenings.
Do I need a big marketing budget?
No. Most of the work is about clarity, proof and follow-up, not advertising spend. Many improvements cost time rather than money.
Will you post on social media for me?
Yes, if it's the right channel for you. We start by deciding what to say, where and why. Then my team and I can run your social media, or set up a routine that you or your team can keep going.
Getting started, the survey and the webinar
How do we start?
Take the survey or book a free 15-minute chat. If we're a good fit, I'll suggest a starting point, usually a 7R audit of where your business is today.
What happens after I take the survey?
You'll get a summary of the results and an invitation to the free webinar. If you ticked the chat option, I'll email you to arrange a time.
When is the webinar, and what will we do?
It's a free live online session of up to 90 minutes for service business owners and managers. We'll go through the most common challenges from the survey and work on them as a group, so you leave with practical steps for your own business. The exact date comes with your invitation.
I met you at an event. What's next?
Take the survey while our conversation is fresh, and connect with me on LinkedIn. I'd love to hear what's getting in the way for you.
What do you do with my answers?
I use them to plan the webinar, and I'll share the overall results with participants, but anonymised: no company names or details that could identify you or your business. 7R Marketing is a brand of Translators Family, which stores your details, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Do you work outside Edinburgh?
Yes. I'm based in Edinburgh and work with clients across the UK and internationally, in person or online.
Do you only work with translation companies?
No. Translators Family is my own business and the place where I tested these ideas first. 7R Marketing works with service businesses of all kinds.
Five minutes today. More of the right clients tomorrow.
Starting takes five minutes. Take the survey to get your invitation to a free webinar, or book a short chat about your business. Whether you need a consultant, a fractional marketing and business development manager, or a team to implement it, I'll help you grow.
